Position Type: Administration/Director of Student Services Date Posted: 7/25/2025 Location: SAU #61 Office Date Available: 08/01/2025 Qualifications: Have or be eligible for NH Certification with endorsement in Administration, Special Education Administrator, or a related field. Excellent communication skills with creative, energetic, positive and nurturing leadership ability. Have an understanding of the utilization of technology as an instructional tool and management system for student data. Reports To: Superintendent of Schools or Designee Supervises: Special Education, Guidance, and Nursing staff in conjunction with school principals. Job Goal: This position is responsible for working with school principals, teachers, support staff, parents, service providers, and social service agencies to create learning environments and opportunities for students with disabilities to meet local and state standards. Responsibilities: 1. Supervises and evaluates the activities of all departmental personnel and provides them with in-service training as deemed necessary. 2. Interprets to school personnel, parents, students, and the community, information relating to the special services and 504 programs and/or the educational programming for exceptional and 504 students. 3. Assumes the responsibility for encouraging all special education, guidance, and nursing staff in the maintenance of consistent communication with parents. 4. Develops and supervises the maintenance of an adequate system of record-keeping for all disabled children and 504 students. 5. Coordinates all special education, guidance (including 5047), and nursing programs including budgeting and fiscal management; evaluation and supervision of; and completion of local, state, and federal reports and related records. 6. Maintains a thorough understanding of all legal requirements for special education and informs the superintendent, building principals, and others as necessary. 7. Provides leadership in estabishing new programs and developing improved delivery of services within the context of the regular school environment. 8. Assesses current programs to determine effectiveness. 9. Serves as a liaison with the state agencies serving exceptional and 504 students. 10. Assists in the recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring of any special education, guidance, or nursing staff. 11. Develops contracts for all ancillary personnel used in screening, identification, and/or placement of eligible students in special programs. 12. Coordinates the use of technology for IEP development and enhanced student services. 13. Supervises the preparation of attendance report and similar data necessary for reimbursement of funds, tuition fort out-of-district students, and similar fiscal matters. 14. Maintains an inventory of permanent equipment purchased for special education, guidance, and nursing. 15. Assumes responsibility for personal professional growth and development; for keeping current with the literature, new research findings, best practices, and improved teaching techniques; and for attending professional meetings and conventions. 16. Participates in the adjudication process of all court-involved students. 17. Acts as Title 9 Coordinator for district. 18. Case manages all out of district students. 19. Participate as team member for in-district high profile cases (advocates involved). 20. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Conditions of Employment: The term of the contract will be for 260 days. Position will be evaluated on an annual basis by April 1. Evaluations will be completed by the Superintendent with input from the school board.
