Job Title: Director of Sales and Event ServicesFLSA Classification: Exempt (Salary)Salary Range: $115,000, per annumReports to: General ManagerDirect Reports: Sales Department, Banquet ManagerJob DescriptionSummary/objective: The Director of Sales and Event Services is Responsible for planning, staffing, directing, and leading the sales department relative to specific revenue production, and meeting or exceeding revenue objectives for occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), Net ADR by segment, and ancillary spending. He/she oversees training and supervising of the hotel's sales team and banquet department to ensure seamless transition of client events from sales to operations. Works closely with the General Manager to determine appropriate sales strategies across all market segments, aiming to maximize property revenues. Creates lucrative sales targets and networks business relations with various business, social, and affiliation clients.   • Achieving or exceeding sales goals and hotel budgets
  • Developing and implementing effective sales Strategic Plan to maximize revenue generation
  • Managing lead sources to ensure quantity and quality of leads
  • Working closely with General Manager to develop lead generation strategies
  • Collaborates with team in seeking new clients through outbound sales efforts
  • Conducting sales calls to key accounts or major prospects
  • Monitoring internal and external sales activities/performance to ensure revenue goals meet or exceed established plan and accurately reporting variance/projections monthly
  • Weighing the value of each piece of business against hotel objectives
  • Using Revenue Management resources to help make informed decisions and maximize revenue
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with peers, competitors and brand partners
  • Adjusting strategy based on competitive market and market segment knowledge
  • Ensuring that the property is maximizing the use of all company, brand and local programs
  • Coordinate Corporate Outreach Sales Effort
  • Manage and develop Preferred Corporate Rate Accounts
  • Oversee/Supervise Social Food and Beverage Sales Segments
  • Maintain/be active in the community and with professional organizations
  • Know local/geographical competition thoroughly
  • Assist in the annual Marketing Plan
  • Participate in Marketing Committee and Revenue Maximization meetings
  • Design Special Offers for various segments
  • Ensure Banquet management and team are meeting and exceeding service expectations as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate and assist with Reservations Dept.
  • Support company Green Efforts and Safety Committee
  • Resolve Client/Guest Issues
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Be fully aware of and comply with Inns policies and procedures as identified in the procedure manual and handbook.
Supervisory Essential Duties
  • Constantly monitor staff performance in all phases of service and job functions, ensuring that all procedures are carried out.
  • Interview, recommend hiring, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, resolve problems, provide open communication, recommend and conduct performance and salary reviews,
  • Conduct training and have regular meetings to increase staff performance and knowledge.
  • Provide support, and coaching for team members to drive high levels of performance, job satisfaction, and personal growth
  • Train and empowers sales team members to exercise good judgment to make profitable business decisions
  • Ensure that the hotel sales team is effectively using the tools available
  • Counsel team as necessary to maintain accountability
  • Schedule staff as needed, including weekend and event coverage
Work environment
  • Working conditions are based in a hospitality setting.
  • Associates may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Noise level in work environment is usually moderate.
Physical demands
  • To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to stand, move and work throughout the office area and property, including walking up to 1 ½ mile, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/workstation for the duration of the shift.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Extensive knowledge of forecasting sales and interpreting/analyzing results to plan and conducting budgetary analysis, including pricing review and yield management
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and translating these into sales solutions
  • Track record of leading and inspiring teams to meet or exceed sales goals
  • A strong sense of marketing, commercial and financial acumen, budget management
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft programs including Excel, Word.
  • On-line savvy, with web, social media and e-commerce expertise.
  • Positive interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • Innovative, able to match current market trends to what we offer
  • Recovery. When missteps do occur, able to take responsibility and resolve them productively
Required Education And Experience
  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in; Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or a related major
  • 2 years' experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • 3 years Conference Service and/or Banquet experience OR
  • 2-year Associate Degree in; Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or a related major
  • 3 years' experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • 4 years Conference Service and/or Banquet experience
