Lucas Tree Experts, a leader in the treecare industry, is looking for a highly motivated, experienced, safety-focused professional to lead and continuously improve our Safety and Training program as Director of Safety and Training.
Ideal candidates will have 5+ years' experience in safety and health, safety engineering or a related field. Prior experience in vegetation management preferred. As Director of Safety and Training, you will champion our culture of safety across all operations, ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and empowering our workforce through education and development. Strong leadership skills are an absolute must. Candidates must be of the highest integrity and enjoy networking with customers and industry partners. Candidate must be a self-starter with confidence and a positive attitude and is willing to put in the extra time and effort to ensure the success of the safety and training program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Foster and promote a culture of health and safety.Ensure corporate compliance of all federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.Collaborate with management to identify the latest trends, emerging regulations, and training opportunities.Lead the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.Stop operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.Conduct employee training on applicable safety standards.Develop training (ex: tailgates, annual compliance, safety meetings, new LMS content).Review safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates.Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.Review accident and incident reports. Ensure the implementation of corrective actions.Ensure completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.Coordinate the training activities of the department with other areas of the company.Always ensure good public relations.Supervise all field safety trainers.Provide technical and administrative support as needed. Complete paperwork that pertains to assigned job.Meet with and represent Lucas Tree with our customers as the safety liaison.Maintain various online customer safety questionnaires and databases.Evaluate and approve new subcontractors.Provide safety training and orientation for new employees and subcontractors.Attend conferences, meetings, and trade shows.Monitor and track safety performance and statistics, providing regular updates and reports.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, as well as ANSI Z133 standards.Superior written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.Ability to conduct training and motivate teams.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.At least five years of occupational health and safety experience required; experience in the tree care industry preferred.Must be willing to obtain and maintain: CTSP, CUSP, CSMP, CDL.First Aid/CPR/AED certification.Current and valid Driver's license with clean driving record as determined by Lucas Tree.Physical and Job Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 50lbs.Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Ability to sit/stand for presentations, field audits, training, and customer meetings.Must be able to walk on uneven ground.Ability to travel by land, air, or sea. Passport Required.Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer physical & drug screen.Must be able to successfully complete a background and motor vehicle records check.Compensation and Benefits Package:
