The Director of Residential Services is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing coordinated and comprehensive services that improve the quality of life for program participants. This position ensures overall program functioning, supervises assigned personnel, and supports evidence-based, therapeutic programming. The Director also contributes to strategic direction, ensures compliance with regulations, and fosters a positive, values-based work environment.
Requirements
- Develops and implements client-centered services aligned with best practices and individualized goals.
- Provides clinical oversight and participates in case reviews to ensure service quality and.
- Ensures staff training in evidence-based practices and continuous quality improvement.
- Promotes a positive and inclusive work culture that supports staff development and high performance.
- Supervises, mentors, and evaluates direct reports; provides consultation for program.
- Implements and monitors staff performance expectations and improvement plans.
- Ensures maximum occupancy, utilization, and integration of services; assesses performance using benchmark data.
- Oversees budgeting, resource utilization, and operational efficiency within units.
- Ensures adherence to regulatory and funding requirements, including Medicaid and certification standards.
- Manages crisis and behavioral risk situations; maintains appropriate staffing and safe.
- Represents East House in community collaborations and redesigns services to meet emerging needs.
- Supports strategic agency initiatives and serves on leadership teams as assigned.
- Other Duties – Follows all applicable policies, federal and state laws, and East House compliance standards. Collaborates with the Office of Ethics, Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance, and document corrective actions.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field.
- At least 5 years of supervisory and administrative experience, preferably in mental health or chemical dependency residential programs.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Licensure/Certifications
- Certification or licensure in human services field required (e.g., CASAC, LMSW, etc.).
- NYS motor vehicle license, safe driving record and availability of personal vehicle for work.
Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Experience in behavioral healthcare systems (OMH, OASAS) and residential services.
- Strong leadership, program evaluation, quality assurance, budgeting, and resource management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with culturally diverse individuals and collaborate with staff.
- Intermediate computer literacy involving proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with multiple database systems.
