Reporting to the System Chief Quality Officer, the Hospital Director for Quality is responsible for developing and implementing hospital-wide quality improvement, infection prevention, accreditation/regulatory, and patient safety programs to enhance healthcare outcomes and to create a highly reliable organization. Fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization. Collaborates with executive leadership across disciplines to set priorities and integrate quality program initiatives into operational plans. Mentors and develops the quality team to build their skill and competency. Uses data to drive change and sustain improvement. Maintains compliance with external regulations and agencies.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    4 year Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (Required)

    Master's Degree in relevant field (Preferred)

  • EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum of 3 years in healthcare quality improvement, in a management role (Required)

  • CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES

    Preferred Certifications: Certified Professionals in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or attained within 18 months of employment

    Preferred certification in improvement science e.g. LEAN Management

Essential Functions

  • Oversees operations related to budgeting and staff management in assigned cost center
  • Recruits, retains, and mentors team members
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with leadership, reports, and physicians/APPs to achieve organizational goals
  • Seeks professional development opportunities
  • Serves as a resource for quality program knowledge and education

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

Leads implementation of the annual QAPI plan, develops strategic and tactical plans, and utilizes evidence-based medicine to reduce variation, standardize care, and reduce costs. Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Leads quality improvement teams and monitors process and outcome measures. Collaborates across the health system to promote a system approach.

Accreditation/Regulatory Affairs

Ensures compliance with standards, maintains readiness, manages regulatory activities, and develops relationships with agencies.

Patient Safety and Risk Management

  • Partners to achieve zero harm and foster a culture of trust
  • Conducts root cause analyses and ensures incident reporting compliance

Infection Prevention

  • Develops plans for infection control and surveillance
  • Provides education and ensures compliance with infection control standards

Stays current on trends and best practices in infection prevention.

Data Analytics and Reporting

  • Establishes KPIs, oversees data collection and reporting, and partners to improve data integrity and reporting standardization.
