As a member of the Head Start Division with program services and development in mind, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking department to advance BakerRipley's impact in the communities we serve.Reporting to the Senior Director of Early Head Start and Head Start, the Director of Program Services oversees the education and early childhood development portion of the Head Start Performance Standards. The Director of Program Services will oversea of the Family and Community Engagement, Family Wellness, Education, ERSEA, and Nutrition content areas.EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • Effective management of program budgets, ensuring optimal use of resources to achieve program goals.
  • Building, leading, and mentoring a team of program managers and staff to effectively deliver services.
  • Engaging with clients or service users to understand their needs and improve service delivery.
  • Implementing strategies that enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
Essential Functions
  • Provides vision and leadership to the Senior Child Development Services Coordinator to ensure the provision of comprehensive, integrated early childhood education services
Makes recommendations to the Sr. EHS/HS Director for the purchase/adoption of appropriate educational materials/curricula in line with the program philosophyProvide Instructional Leadership: Monitor and support instructional activitiesPerform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the Head Start Performance Standards and the component plans; Head Start child development outcomes; and thorough knowledge and application of Developmentally Appropriate PracticesCarry out recommendations of the Senior EHS/HS Director for program improvement;Maintains content development expertise and disseminates such knowledge by providing ongoing quality assistance to staff.Work cooperatively with other component coordinators to plan education services integrated with health, mental health, dental health, nutrition, parent involvement, and social servicesRespond to identified needs and goals within the organization (Head Start, Early Head Start, and Home Based Program) and intervene on behalf of families, children and staff; provide expertise and support in developing high quality childhood environments, materials and practices, and early childhood special education servicesPromotes continuous quality improvement and quality assurance efforts for the EHS/HS program.Attend meetings, staffing, trainings and professional development activities as appropriateCompile and analyze data used for monitoring outcomes and planning long/short term goals; meeting with appropriate parties to develop improvement plans as necessaryDevelop reports as requestedKeeps current with latest research on best practices in early childhood education and uses knowledge to develop materials, policies and training materials for teachers and other staff.Provides staff development, conducts meetings, and serves on staff committees as requested.Participates in site visits, classrooms observations, and work groups to assess program needs and planning strategies for system/process improvement and/or development of early childhood educationCommunicates effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the agency.Provides recommendations to the Senior Child Development Services Coordinator on the purchase of necessary classroom materials and supplies.Collaborates with Charter School Without Walls (CSWW) staff on instructional strategies and best practices in the classroom.
