Position Summary:

The Director of Player Development is responsible for overseeing the strategy, leadership, and execution of all high-value guest development initiatives. This role leads the entire Player Development team, including PD Executives, Hosts, and support staff, while driving a culture of excellence, accountability, and service. The Director will lead initiatives that attract new premium players, deepen loyalty among existing guests, and create personalized experiences that increase frequency of visits and overall player value.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes superior guest service.
  • Maintains and perpetuates a positive organizational culture according to the principles of the Spirit of Tâlícn and the Core Values of ilani.
  • Lead and manage the Player Development team, including hiring, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Personally drive business by maintaining a book of high-value players and serving as a key contact for top-tier guests. (annual book value to be determined, Est $3 million)
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the database of high-value and qualified credit players.
  • Create and implement strategic player acquisition, retention, and reactivation campaigns.
  • Prepares the annual Player Development budget, VIP events calendar and makes recommendations for short and long-term revenue enhancements.
  • [ls1] Identify and cultivate relationships with high-value casino guests and prospects.
  • Develop and manage programs, events, and player experiences that enhance the guest experience and maximize profitability.
  • Monitor team performance metrics, player reinvestment, and team incentive program to ensure business targets are met or exceeded.
  • Oversee departmental goals and reporting to ensure profitability, cost control, and ROI on player reinvestment.
  • Maintain close collaboration with casino hosts, marketing, hotel operations, F&B, and gaming operations to deliver seamless VIP experience.
  • Collaborates with the Credit department to ensure Hosts are knowledgeable of credit application, approval, and credit line increase processes to best serve high end guests.
  • Ensure proper and ethical handling of player incentives, comps, and reinvestment in alignment with property guidelines and compliance regulations.
  • Represent the casino professionally at both on-property and off-property events.
  • Develops and executes promotions and special event campaigns, both internal and external, targeted at high-value guests. This includes creating and managing VIP dinners, tournaments, private parties, concerts, and other exclusive experiences designed to drive engagement, loyalty, and incremental revenue.
  • Works with Marketing and Database Marketing to develop criteria for Player Development events and promotions.
  • Works in partnership with theVice President of Gaming & PD to manage and evaluate the profitability of junket groups and junket representatives for the property. This will include but not be limited to the coordination and execution of junket visits, representative payments, and junket group negotiations.
  • Responsible for tracking performance of special events, promotions, and other marketing expenditure related to driving revenue.
  • Reports results from Player Development expenditures related to revenue generation to the Vice President of Gaming & Player Development.
  • Responsible for reviewing all comp decisions of the Player Development team.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED; Recognized Equivalent of a High School Diploma (RED) or Foreign High School Diploma (FHD).
  • Ten (10) years of experience in Player Development, with 3-5 years in a leadership role in Player Development.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment.
  • Proven results and success in driving high-end play, increasing credit utilization, and growing premium player segments.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a successful team, especially in guiding new or inexperienced staff toward strong performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, guest-centric environment.
  • Strong knowledge of casino operations, player reinvestment strategies, and gaming regulations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Hands-on experience and training with Title 31 compliance.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical and actual player value.
  • Must have a strong understanding of casino operations, including complimentary policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of slot machine ratings and table game rules and ratings.
  • Must have a proven ability to objectively evaluate individuals, teams, and processes in order to drive continuous improvement and enhance organizational performance.
  • Financial analysis skills to evaluate Player Development programs proformas and postformas.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills experience with Microsoft Office Suite (I.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Casino and Slot Management Systems (i.e., CMP).
  • Travel may be required for this position.
  • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Must be willing to work in a smoking environment.
  • Must be willing to adhere to company health and safety measures.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Existing relationships with VIP or credit-qualified players in the regional or national market.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
  • Strong background in building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams, with proven results in coaching inexperienced staff into productive, service-driven professionals.
  • Demonstrated success in increasing player acquisition, credit utilization, and overall gaming revenue.
