DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY OPERATIONS Jericho Road Community Health Center is actively seeking a Director of Pharmacy Operations. - Perform and oversee the daily workflow responsibilities of dispensing pharmaceutical services including but not limited to filling prescriptions, ordering medications, delivering medications, and maintaining all appropriate records, invoices, and documentation
- Make recommendations regarding medication therapy management on a multi-disciplinary team and respond to pertinent triages through proper documentation in patients charts in EMR (Medent) system
- Perform drug utilization reviews (DURs) to establish safe and appropriate use of medications
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to utilize financial considerations for patients that may be under sourced.
- Maintain electronic medical records efficiently and maximize resources
- Oversee the operations and work with the entire pharmacy team with inventory management and compliance of the 340B program
- Oversee the correct storage and disposal of damaged and expired medications within pharmacy areas
- Monitor purchase of pharmacy supplies, including maintaining an appropriate drug inventory on hand level as determined by the Chief of Ancillary Services and finance team
- Remain current with laws, regulations and clinical recommendations governing the practice of pharmacy
- Maintains current certifications including all mandatory annual and CPR training
- Ability to adhere to the professional code of ethics in the practice of pharmacy and all requirements and guidelines as governed by HRSA
- Direct supervision of dispensing pharmacy staff
- Manage pharmacy budget including claims review, optimizing revenue management and managing human and capital resources
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives and fiscal controls
- Perform risk management functions for the pharmacy program, including supporting the 340B Compliance manager in 340b pharmacy audits
- Assess and update formularies and pricing structure for Sliding Fee Scale Program
- Develop, implement, and update policies, practices, and procedures for pharmacy services as required by HRSA
- Ability to engage collaboratively with clinic leadership
- Cooperate with the Chief of Ancillary Services to execute the functions and needs for optimal day to day operations and strategic planning
- Serves as a strong leader and liaison between the Chief of Ancillary Services and staff to build good relationships to further the initiatives of pharmacy operations and create a culture of effective communication
- Ability to address and problem solve day to day issues as they arise and possess the knowledge to bring emerging patterns of concern to the attention of the Chief of Ancillary Services when collaboration and advisement is needed
- Assist the Chief of Ancillary Services to develop strategies in optimizing revenue and decrease cost, utilizing financial considerations for under sourced patients
- Guide and train team members to build sustainable relationships and engage patients by going the extra mile
- Oversee the interview and hiring process in collaboration with HR team
- Lead pharmacy staff members by setting a professional example as they provide support and customer service to pharmacy patients
- Ensure staff members achieve desired service levels and take corrective action or disciplinary action as needed.
- Taking on other tasks or projects to support employees, other managers, and pharmacy operations
- Conduct performance evaluations as determined by organization for 30,60,90 day for new hires and annually for all direct reports
- Schedule all team members, approving or denying time off requests in ADP based on peak times and department needs, and approving timecards on a bi-weekly basis for direct reports.
- Conducting effective resource planning to maximize the productivity of resources (people, technology, etc.).
- When necessary and using discretion, ensure that incidents reports are filled out when patients are threatening, aggressive, inappropriate or may present a possible difficult situation in the pharmacy
- Articulate clearly to leadership any escalated situations and advise on follow up actions needed
- Ability to influence (especially without direct supervisory authority) both individuals and teams.
- Ability to implement and develop strategies, build action plans, process improvement initiatives and set goals.
- Ensure compliance to completion of all mandatory training for pharmacy staff in collaboration with Director of Talent Development
Qualifications:
- Licensed and registered pharmacist in the state of New York
- Minimum of five years' work experience in a high-volume community pharmacy setting
- Preferred experience in 340B pharmacy setting
- Preferred 1-2 years management experience in retail pharmacy setting
- Experience working with diverse, multilingual, and/or underserved populations highly desired
- Reliable transportation within the city of Buffalo and surrounding areas required
Rate: $150,000-175,000 salaried. Individual compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other position related components.
