Director of Partnerships & Business Development

We are seeking a Director of Partnerships and Business Development, based in New York City (hybrid, 3 days a week in office), to drive the growth and execution of our partner ecosystem, deliver excellence in partner onboarding and implementation, and lead the development of new business opportunities and community engagement. This high-impact role sits at the intersection of partnerships, business development, customer success, and product strategy. As Director, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of Stackwell's partners—from onboarding and implementation through ongoing relationship management, upsell, and community engagement. You'll work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Growth, and Operations to ensure seamless delivery of Stackwell's solutions to institutions, community organizations, and other strategic partners. This is an individual contributor role with high internal and external visibility, ideal for a hands-on relationship builder and operator who excels at strategy, execution, and systems thinking. The role reports directly to the Founder and CEO.

What You'll Do

Launch & Deliver Successful Partnerships

  • Own the end-to-end onboarding process for new partners—from contract close to full deployment.
  • Design and manage onboarding playbooks, timelines, and milestones tailored to specific partner segments.
  • Lead internal and partner-facing implementation planning sessions to align on goals, integrations, reporting requirements, compliance needs, and success metrics.
  • Track delivery against implementation timelines, proactively identifying and resolving risks, gaps, and roadblocks.
  • Ensure all partnership and program deliverables are executed on time, at a high standard, and aligned to strategic intent.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Growth to deliver seamless partner and user experiences and integrate feedback loops into product development.
  • Partner with Product to co-create education journeys and curriculum aligned with partnership needs.
  • Work with Engineering to streamline and scale partnership onboarding and execution workflows.

Engage Communities & Build Brand Loyalty

  • Engage directly with program participants to build trust, foster brand advocacy, and collect real-time feedback.
  • Work with Growth to amplify user stories and program outcomes across brand, product marketing, and social impact channels.
  • Activate alumni of Stackwell's programs to participate in and promote the Stackwell Referral Program.
  • Partner with Growth and Operations to execute and scale the referral engine as a key part of the acquisition flywheel.

Grow Revenue Through Strategic Relationships

  • Serve as Stackwell's “client executive” for partners—owning relationship management, program delivery, reporting, and escalation resolution. Current and prospective partners include financial institutions, corporate foundations, national non-profits, HBCUs and professional sports organizations.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each partner's strategic goals and proactively surface insights and solutions that help them succeed using Stackwell.
  • Identify upsell and renewal opportunities by tracking strategic needs and value delivered over time.
  • Collaborate with Growth and Product to develop solutions that meet evolving partner goals and unlock new monetization opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, client success, or program implementation, preferably in fintech, edtech, SaaS, or social impact sectors.
  • Proven success in managing complex partner onboarding, implementation, and relationship management in a high-growth or startup environment.
  • Experience working with or across financial institutions, higher education (e.g., HBCUs), nonprofits, or community organizations is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Growth, and Operations teams to execute and improve partner programs.
  • Strong project management skills and experience owning end-to-end partner implementations, including tools, timelines, and communication cadences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey strategy, results, and technical details to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with or interest in financial education, wealth building, and economic equity—especially for underrepresented or underserved communities.
  • A mission-driven mindset with empathy, cultural fluency, and a desire to create lasting impact through partnership and community engagement.

About You

  • You are a fast learner with a good sense of judgement and original thinking and have an ability to thrive in ambiguity, adapt quickly to change.
  • You are a strong project and team manager who drives organizational efficiency and keeps initiatives on track with very little oversight.
  • You are versatile and have the ability and willingness to flex across various roles, responsibilities within the organization.
  • You are comfortable directly challenging opinions, assumptions, and actions, but always get behind the decisions that are in the best interest of the company.

Working at Stackwell

  • This position is full time. Work hours can be flexible but covering regular trading hours for the U.S. stock market will be required.
  • This role is hybrid, with three days a week required in the NYC office.
  • Stackwell is committed to supporting our team members across work and life. As a Stackwell employee, you will receive:

Competitive salary, performance-based bonus compensation and equity

Outstanding benefits (medical, dental, vision, and life)

401(k) with employer match

Unlimited PTO that we encourage you to take

Ongoing professional growth and team building opportunities
