Overview

The Edward Charles Foundation (ECF) is a leader in the charitable and philanthropic sector, specializing in serving high-net-worth clients. ECF manages nearly 300 charitable funds and projects, overseeing a wide range of charitable projects, funds and assets—from public equities and real estate to art, cash and cryptocurrencies. The Foundation handles all the back-office compliance, finance and reporting, using structures such as fiscal sponsorships, donor-advised funds, and mission-related investments. ECF's clients are dedicated to impactful causes such as climate and sustainability, education, poverty alleviation, healthcare, and more.

Position Overview

The Co-Director of Operations is a key executive leader who will partner closely with the Head of Operations to oversee and align the Edward Charles Foundation's internal and external teams, partners, vendors, consultants and clients. Together, the Co-Director of Ops and Head of Operations shall share responsibility for ensuring that teams and external partners work seamlessly, delivering exceptional results for ECF clients while upholding ECF's reputation for elegance, accuracy, and care.

This role is focused on driving operational excellence through process improvement, proactive leadership, and strategic oversight of select projects and partnerships. The Co-Director of Ops will balance responsibilities with the Head of Operations, with each role taking ownership of defined areas while collaborating closely to support team development, client satisfaction, and organizational accountability.

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Head of Operations; responsibilities are shared and divided between roles to maximize effectiveness.

  • Operational Leadership
    • Co-lead oversight of internal teams and external partners, ensuring clarity in roles, responsibilities, and deliverables.
    • Take co-responsibility for overseeing accounting projects and personnel, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting by the inside and outside accounting teams.
    • Oversight of outside technology, business and CPA consultants, ensuring solutions are effective, secure, and aligned with organizational needs.
    • Partner with the Head of Operations in overseeing collaborations with outside CPAs, ensuring smooth audits, outside legal counsel, compliance, and tax-related operations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience, ideally in nonprofit operations, fiscal sponsorship, or professional services.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary teams and external vendors/consultants.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience overseeing accounting, audits, and compliance.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex relationships and situations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building processes that balance efficiency, quality, and human connection.
