The Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SRBX) and Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) are looking for an experienced Director of Operations to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in an operations management role, a minimum of three years leading human resources, and experience with a growing, multi-state nonprofit. This is a member of the organization's leadership team and is an exempt, full-time position located in our Sacramento, California office, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
SRBX is a 501(c)6 trade association representing the commercial construction industry with nearly 1,100 member companies. It is one of the oldest and largest membership organizations in the Sacramento region. CIEF is a 501(c)3 organization working to empower youth to pursue careers in the built environment. In 2024, CIEF served nearly 15,000 high school students in five states. CIEF operates a chapter model and also has secondary offices in Irvine, California and Dallas, Texas. The joint organizations serve nearly 25,000 people annually at workforce, business development, and networking events, in addition to providing an online plan room, education and safety training, and government advocacy. Each organization has a budget in excess of $2 million and their individual boards of directors. SRBX will launch the Southern California Builders Exchange in October. SRBX and CIEF have 20+ full-time employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage Administrative Coordinator with oversight of facility management, vendors, supply orders, transportation of event and meeting supplies, and Sacramento facility room rentals
- Ensure that both organizations are in compliance with all state and federal laws and requirements regarding human resources
- Implement and manage human resource functions including personnel policies and procedures, health care benefits, PTO, hiring and exiting processes, employee relationships, and performance review procedures
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with staff and partners
- Serve as point person for staff on HR issues and questions
- Responsible for organizations' culture and all-team events including Town Halls, trainings, team building activities and annual retreat
- Manage and track all employee certifications
- Ensure that performance reviews are completed in a timely manner and that all employee files are current
- Manage third-party contract for technology services
- Serve as lead for AMS/CRM, Monday.com/project management, and all software systems
- Serve as organizational lead for all systems and procedures
- Maintain contracts and payment methods for Dallas and Irvine offices
- Develop and execute new growth directives
- Communicate with departmental heads to develop financial plans and ensure company-wide compliance
- Monitor company revenue margins and conduct budget reviews to maximize fiscal growth opportunities
- Assist with grant accounting, ad-hoc reporting and annual audit preparation and ability to back up leadership in preparation of grant proposals and compiling information for funders, government agencies, annual report, etc. as needed
- Track event and class attendance for reporting purposes
- Ensure organizations stay compliant with all applicable city, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Provide backup administrative and office support, including phone calls, contact logs, mailings, and emails
- Represent the company and CEO in a positive light through great follow-through skills and sound judgement
- Special projects and duties as assigned
- Attendance and support for events may require occasional evening or early morning hours
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum five years of management experience in operations
- Minimum three years with management in human resources
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong time-management skills and an ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Previous experience managing staff
- Experience/familiarity with nonprofits
- Proficiency with office productivity tools and an aptitude for learning new software and systems
- Experience with an association management system or customer relationship management system
- Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes and enjoys an entrepreneurial culture
- Proactive problem solver
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information related to the organizations and their employees
COMPENSATION
This is a full-time position with supplemental benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, and a 401k savings program. The anticipated salary is $80,000-$90,000 depending on experience.
