This is a 2nd shift position onsite- 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, Monday-Friday
As the Director of Operations for the distribution center, you will be responsible for coordinating operations to ensure customer service levels are met or exceeded and financial goals are achieved.
Distribution & Logistics Leadership
- Plan and monitor daily labor needs based on immediate and forecasted order and unit volumes.
- Ensure all orders and receipts are processed in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner.
- Oversee the development of associates by providing tools and cross-training to help team members contribute to the total operation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the overall operation runs effectively by monitoring standard procedures and recommending new ones when necessary.
Labor Management & Mentorship
- Partner with the Distribution Center Vice President and Human Resource Business Partner to ensure adequate staffing levels for present and future needs.
- Train hourly associates on proper procedures.
- Maintain a high level of associate morale and recognition, with the goal of keeping the annual turnover rate at an acceptable level.
- Manage team members with differing skill levels and enable them to achieve performance and quality standards.
Process Improvement
- Set and drive toward continuous improvement goals by working closely with supervisors and lead personnel.
- Monitor standard procedures and recommend new procedures when necessary to ensure the overall operation runs effectively.
- Ensure consistent use and enforcement of facility and department policies and procedures by consulting with the Distribution Center Vice President and Human Resources.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience within a high-volume, automated distribution center
- College degree or 10+ years of equivalent experience required
- Experience utilizing sophisticated WMS/WCS and other automated systems and equipment, including RF equipment, sortation, conveyor systems and forklifts
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet, work independently, make decisions, take appropriate actions and provide follow-up
- Talent for managing team members with differing skill levels and enabling them to achieve performance and quality standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where multitasking is expected
- Strong attention to detail
