About This Role

We are seeking a Plant Manager (Director of Operations) for the Carrier Climate Solutions Transportation plant in Athens, GA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing within an assembly environment, with knowledge of supply chain flows and materials management technologies such as MRP, JIT, Kanban, and lean line architecture. Your leadership and continuous improvement mindset will be key to evolving our operating model and supporting rapid growth. You will be the onsite leader and a key member of the global Operations leadership team.

Drawing on your experience, you will motivate your team to excel across all functions and manage manufacturing operations, including planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling to meet goals like schedule reliability, quality improvements, expense control, and productivity enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team to produce high-quality products efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Optimize plant resources, including facilities, equipment, inventories, and personnel.
  • Implement continuous improvements to methods, processes, and facilities to boost productivity, ROI, and reduce costs while ensuring employee health and safety.
  • Develop and execute strategies aligned with corporate initiatives, providing clear direction to meet business commitments.
  • Promote a culture of change, continuous improvement, and lean principles in daily operations.
  • Ensure safety compliance and foster a safe working environment, minimizing occupational injuries and violations.
  • Maximize production capacity and flexibility while maintaining quality standards and controlling costs.
  • Build trust with the team, recruiting, managing, and developing plant staff.
  • Develop systems to track and improve productivity, standards, and performance metrics to ensure effective asset utilization.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with all plant employees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of manufacturing operations experience OR a Master's degree with 10+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business, MBA preferred.
  • Management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven talent development and team motivation skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, strategic leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute operational and strategic plans.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and change management ability.
  • Negotiation skills with supply chain and logistics experience.
  • Experience in process improvement and building effective supplier networks.
