Job Overview

The Director of Business Development (OEM) is responsible for supporting and growing sales and profits for related market channels. The role involves providing marketing input and promoting product line growth through innovative use of existing and new products, supported by educational background, industry experience, and customer contacts. The individual must possess a unique blend of business and technical knowledge, a big-picture vision, and the drive to realize that vision. Understanding customer problems, solution attributes, and identifying innovative product or service solutions are essential. The individual will serve as an evangelist for assigned products, working with sales channels and key customers to promote Hubbell and its product solutions, and collaborate cross-functionally to align and execute strategies.

Division Overview

Hubbell Connectors, Grounding, & Tooling focuses on products supporting two businesses: Burndy and Connector Manufacturing Company, serving markets in renewable energy, OEM, transportation, data centers, telecom, utility, extreme environments, power generation, and oil & gas. Our products set industry standards, and our success depends on our value proposition and the expertise of our employees.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop and recommend product line strategies for OEM applications across all Connectors, Grounding, & Tooling businesses.
  • Lead research and analysis for economic justification, competitive pricing, financial models, features, and applications.
  • Manage regular team meetings to advance project execution.
  • Manage T2T relationships with key end customers.
  • Gather intelligence on product and market issues, competitors, business trends, and regulations; produce reports and attend sales meetings, customer visits, and conduct product training and research.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with existing and emerging market participants.
  • Assist in developing new product launch materials with Marketing teams.
  • Maintain competitive cross-references of catalog numbers for assigned products.
  • Provide technical and application support to sales organizations and customers.

What Will Help You Thrive in This Role

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical or business field, with 7-10 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, standards, applications, and distribution channels within the Renewables Market.
  • Preferable experience in the OEM space, related design, engineering, and market applications.
  • Self-reliant, resourceful, creative, with sound business decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to organize and lead ad-hoc teams for business development.
  • Critical thinking skills to bring new products to market, working with engineering, operations, marketing, and sales teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings and customer visits. Strong math, analytical, and computer skills.
