Program Development: The duties of the Director of Nursing shall be in keeping with accepted principles of hospital standards. The Director must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, provide care utilizing the nursing process, and communicate effectively. The Director of Nursing shall organize the nursing functions of the Hospital, delegate duties and establish formal means of accountability on the part of subordinates, thereby providing high quality nursing care in meeting the patient's emotional, psychological, social and health teaching needs. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the continuous safe operation of the department(s), following relevant established standards and guidelines. The Director of Nursing is accountable to the Administrator and Medical Director for providing a comprehensive, high-quality program of excellence, ensuring the patient achieves the best possible outcome.
