Job SummaryThe Director of Mission Integration & Spiritual Care provides leadership to ensure the organization's Mission is woven into everyday operations and interactions. This role works in close collaboration with the Executive Director, Administrator, and Directors of Nursing.

The Director helps shape and sustain a culture rooted in the Core Values of compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, and collaboration—a culture that reflects the Franciscan heritage and Catholic identity at the heart of our ministry. A key focus of this role is fostering workplace spirituality and supporting the faith-based foundation on which the organization was built.

The Director also leads the development and delivery of high-quality spiritual care for residents across all levels of care and supervises a full-time Coordinator of Spiritual Care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in Mission Integration within the senior living environment.
  • Serve as the campus subject matter expert on Mission, Core Values, Catholic identity, and Franciscan heritage.
  • Promote and interpret the Mission and Values while collaborating with campus leadership to ensure they are reflected in policies, decisions, and daily operations.
  • Foster a culture of pride and ownership in the Mission, helping employees connect their work to a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.
  • Support employee wellness, engagement, and retention through spiritual formation and presence.
  • Lead prayer and theological reflections; cultivate a spiritually rich workplace.
  • Facilitate both initial and ongoing formation for managers and employees.
  • Provide education on and ensure compliance with the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services (ERDs).

Spiritual Care Oversight:

  • Supervise the full-time Coordinator of Spiritual Care and oversee the overall spiritual care program.
  • Ensure spiritual care is accessible and integrated throughout the continuum of care, especially at end-of-life.
  • Coordinate appropriate religious services for residents of all faiths.
  • Oversee the care and use of chapels on both campuses.
  • Engage clergy, faith communities, and other community partners as appropriate.

Job RequirementsEducation:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in theology, pastoral ministry, or a healthcare-related field.
  • Working knowledge of operations, healthcare ethics, and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
  • Understanding of diverse spiritual traditions, and ability to serve within the context of the Catholic Church.
  • Alignment with the mission and spirit of CommonSpirit Health.
  • Active Catholic preferred; candidates with experience in Catholic healthcare and strong support for Catholic values will be considered.

Experience:

  • Experience working with older adults is required; healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years in a successful management role, ideally in healthcare.
  • At least two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent, with intent to pursue Board Certification as a Chaplain.
