We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Director for an engineering office in Alpharetta, GA, to manage and mentor a team of talented HVAC engineers.

For over three decades, this firm has delivered hundreds of millions of square feet of high-performance facilities across the U.S., partnering with major corporations, universities, and top architects.

The team provides traditional MEP engineering services alongside strategic consulting, offering comprehensive, client-focused solutions. Founded on a “client-first” philosophy, the firm has become a trusted industry leader.

Reporting to senior leadership, the selected candidate will prepare engineering design concepts for HVAC building systems across a wide range of project types, including corporate, academic, science & technology, industrial, mission critical, civic & entertainment, healthcare, historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and mixed-use developments.

Essential Functions

• Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of HVAC engineers, fostering professional growth and ensuring successful project delivery.
• Project Oversight: Provide technical oversight, assist in developing design concepts for new HVAC systems, and analyze existing system performance.
• Design & Engineering: Prepare engineering studies, calculations, and layouts (ductwork, piping, equipment sizing), as well as specifications, control diagrams, and sequences of operation.
• Technical Expertise: Conduct quality control reviews, ensure compliance with applicable codes and design standards, and promote continuous improvement.
• Client Engagement: Attend meetings, present design concepts, and ensure client satisfaction.
• Site Involvement: Conduct site visits to oversee implementation and resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Bachelor's degree (BSME, BSMET) or equivalent technical training/certification.
• Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering experience at an MEP firm.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical system design, including hydronic systems and controls.
• Solid understanding of building codes and standards (ICC, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.).
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• In-office presence required on specified days (hybrid schedule).
• Experience across diverse project types and market sectors.
• Ability to work on-site in Alpharetta, GA (hybrid schedule).

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of managing teams and mentoring engineers.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
• Ambitious, forward-thinking professional interested in leadership and growth opportunities.
• Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.
