The role can be based in any of the firm's offices and reports to the firm's Chief Marketing Officer. Job Summary The Director of Strategic Intelligence is a member of the firm's Marketing and Business Development (MBD) team and leads the firm's client feedback initiatives, competitive intelligence program and strategic research and analysis. The Director leads a team that is responsible for providing actionable insights to enhance client development and retention, growth, and overall firm strategy. In this highly collaborative role, the Director connects the voice of the client and market intelligence to inform the firm's go-to-market approach and strengthen client relationships. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills, as well as a keen ability to convert data into action and insight into opportunity. Specific Job Duties
- Manage a Strategic Intelligence team to deliver impactful internal and external research and analysis across industries, clients, prospects, and markets.
- Monitor market and practice trends, legal industry shifts, and emerging technologies to inform firm strategy and support long-term planning. Proactively recommend new areas of opportunity, as well as topics and issues that could be used in support of furthering the firm's business development priorities.
- Direct the firm's client feedback program, managing survey and interview processes, synthesizing results, and using insights to inform strategic planning and client relationship development.
- Collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer and senior firm leaders to identify opportunities to optimize the client experience and to launch new service offerings based on emerging client needs.
- Make written and in-person presentations of research and intelligence findings to firm decision makers and engage with them for follow-up and to further refine the analysis presented.
- Foster collaboration across business services functions (e.g., Finance, Talent, Innovation, etc.) to align client, market, and operational data.
Qualifications/Skills Required - Demonstrated ability to identify patterns in information and develop related implications and recommendations.
- Proven analytical abilities to review information and to evaluate its reliability, completeness, relevance, and importance to a project.
- Strong quantitative skills to understand and analyze financial and economic data.
- Ability to learn quickly and connect research and analysis with opportunities for the firm's practice.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills, including the ability to influence senior decision makers.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Laser-like focus on detail; a client-service, can-do attitude.
- Extensive knowledge of external research sources and databases.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Educational/Other Requirements 7 or more years of relevant professional service or law firm experience. A college degree is required. An advanced degree is highly preferred. For New York City Metro area, the expected salary range for this position is between $210,000 and $230,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. For the Chicago, IL area, the expected salary range for this position is between $195,000 and $215,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
