Position SummaryThe Director of Maintenance Readiness is responsible for ensuring the operational availability and dispatch readiness of the Part 135 fleet. This position oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities with a focus on overnight maintenance events. The role requires strong leadership to hold Assistant Directors of Maintenance (ADOMs) accountable for aircraft turnaround performance, and to maintain high levels of fleet reliability and compliance with FAA regulations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee daily maintenance readiness and fleet dispatch availability across all Part 135 operations.
- Direct and coordinate overnight maintenance planning and execution to ensure minimal downtime.
- Provide leadership to ADOMs and ensure accountability for performance targets, including maintenance turn times and aircraft availability.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Control, Planning, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless maintenance event execution.
- Monitor KPIs including MEL trends, delays, deferrals, and dispatch reliability; proactively address root causes.
- Ensure compliance with FAA Part 135 maintenance requirements, internal policies, and safety standards.
- Serve as a key escalation point for maintenance delays or issues that impact flight operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce AOGs, increase planned maintenance execution, and improve overnight efficiency.
- Participate in weekly readiness reviews, operational planning meetings, and performance dashboards.
- Support SVP of Maintenance Operations in strategic planning and budgeting related to maintenance readiness.

- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, including 3–5 years in a leadership or director-level role within a Part 135 operation
- Proven experience with maintenance planning and managing overnight or turnaround events
- Deep understanding of FAA regulations (Part 135 and Part 43) and operational readiness requirements
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence across departments
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in aircraft maintenance tracking systems (e.g., Veryon, CAMP, Traxxall, Flightdocs) and maintenance control systems
- Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States, must provide two forms of Federal Identification.
- Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. This includes verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and any other relevant information necessary to determine the suitability for the position.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Ongoing employment requires participating and complying with the Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program which includes random testing.
Preferred
- Prior experience managing maintenance operations for a large on-demand charter or regional fleet
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, or related field
- Six Sigma or Lean maintenance experience a plus
