Director of Maintenance - Job Summary:

We're supporting our client, a leading family-owned food processing company based in Pennsauken, NJ who are looking for a Director of Maintenance to join their growing team. The successful Director of Maintenancewill have experience in maintenance management with food processing, industrial or commercial facilities, as well as experience with PLC/HMIs, HVAC/R and packaging equipment required.

As a Director of Maintenance, you'll lead maintenance operations across the processing facilities. You'll ensure plant assets are maintained at peak performance, oversee mechanical and electrical systems, and guide a high-performing maintenance team. Your mission: optimize uptime, safety, and cost-efficiency in a fast-paced food production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor maintenance team across multiple shifts. Perform workforce planning and training. Drive Kaizen, One Point Lessons, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs. Oversee CMMS enhancements and sustain reliability-focused processes
• Troubleshoot HVAC, PLC/HMI systems, refrigeration, packaging machinery, and support equipment. Read schematics and manage vendor relationships for cost-effective repairs
• Partner with Engineering Project Management for plant expansions, equipment upgrades, and process modernization. Prepare budgets, ROI analyses, and manage supplier contracts
• Ensure maintenance practices comply with OSHA, USDA, GMP, and internal safety standards. Drive sanitation of equipment post-maintenance and participate in site inspections
• Track maintenance KPIs, downtime data, and equipment history. Generate insights and reports to inform leadership and improve reliability.

About You:

• 7–10 years in maintenance management within food processing, industrial or commercial facilities. Experience with PLC/HMIs, HVAC/R, and packaging equipment required
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Exceptional candidates with extensive experience will also be considered
• Strong team building, coaching, and communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
• Proficiency in CMMS systems, Kaizen/6 Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement programs
• Comfortable reading schematics, negotiating with vendors, and overseeing complex mechanical and electrical projects
