We are currently recruiting for the position of Director of IT.

As our Director of IT, you will be the operational heartbeat of technology for a fast-growing third-party logistics (3PL) organization. You'll run the day-to-day IT engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and mission-critical logistics applications—ensuring every facility and system stays online and performing. Reporting directly to the CIO, you'll help shape strategy while owning flawless execution, leading a distributed team and partner ecosystem that spans the United States.

Please note that this role requires in-office attendance five days a week in our Westfield, NJ or Phillipsburg, NJlocation with approximately 25-30% travel.

Responsibilities:

Logistics Application Operations

  • Own uptime, performance, and release cycles for WMS, TMS, YMS, parcel manifesting, and RF/scanning solutions.
  • Partner with Operations to refine workflows, data integrations, and exception handling that drive on-time shipping and inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain 24×7 support and incident-response playbooks for nationwide facilities.

Infrastructure & Network

  • Oversee LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, voice, and edge compute across warehouses, fulfillment centers, and corporate offices.
  • Maintain management and control of all computing hardware (handhelds, vehicle-mounted terminals, label printers, automation controls, laptops and PCs) and ensure lifecycle management meets operational demands.
  • Drive cloud and hybrid-edge architecture, balancing latency-sensitive workloads on-prem with scalability in Azure.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Enforce security policies (NIST/ISO-27001 alignment) and vulnerability management.
  • Lead risk assessments, IT security reviews, and incident-response tabletop exercises.
  • Champion zero-trust access for vendors, carriers, and customer portals.

People & Vendor Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed IT team; set KPIs tied to SLA/OLAs.
  • Govern contracts and performance for MSPs, telecom carriers, and equipment OEMs; run quarterly business reviews.
  • Build succession and skills-development plans that keep pace with automation and AI/ML in logistics.

Program & Financial Management

  • Own the operational IT budget, licensing, and capital refresh roadmap.
  • Lead major programs—cloud migrations, WMS/TMS upgrades, facility startups—from business case through go-live and hyper-care.
  • Track ROI on technology initiatives and continuously improve cost-per-shipment metrics.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years progressive IT experience, with 5+ years managing multi-site technology operations, preference for logistics, supply-chain, or mission critical industries.
  • Proven ownership of industry leading WMS/TMS platforms and RF/barcode ecosystems.
  • Hands-on expertise with network architecture (Cisco, Fortinet, Sonicwall, Ubqiuity) and cloud IaaS/PaaS (Azure).
  • Solid grasp of cybersecurity frameworks, incident response, and security in warehouse environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading hybrid teams (direct employees & MSPs) across multiple time zones.
  • Experience supporting new site launches from the ground up, leading the end-to-end onboarding of all IT systems and infrastructure within tight deadlines. Able to travel 25–30% to distribution centers, partner sites, and corporate headquarters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; Master's or MBA a plus.
  • Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, CISSP, or CCNP.
  • Experience integrating automation/robotics, vision systems, or IoT sensors into WMS workflows.
  • Familiarity with EDI, API, and data-lake architectures supporting customer and carrier connectivity.

Working Conditions & Travel

This is role is an in-office position that requires regular visits to warehouses, fulfillment centers, and partner locations nationwide (approx. 25–30% travel). Evening or weekend coverage may be required during major deployments or incident escalations.
