Director of Information Technology | Onsite | Crestwood, IL | Supply Chain Management

Our client, a growing supply chain solutions provider based in Crestwood, IL, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of IT to join their leadership team. This is a fully onsite role (5 days/week) for candidates already located within commuting distance of Crestwood. Relocation assistance is not available.

This role is designed for an IT leader with deep experience in manufacturing and supply chain environments, not corporate or purely software backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of warehouse and production systems, enterprise IT infrastructure, and a proven ability to support operations and WMS platforms. The Director will lead all IT initiatives across the organization while also rolling up their sleeves to solve technical challenges, optimize systems, and deliver practical business solutions.

Their services span supply chain optimization, labeling, packaging, data reporting, and warehouse management. Position Summary

The Director of IT will be responsible for shaping and executing the company's IT roadmap, overseeing all aspects of infrastructure, systems, data integrity, and reporting platforms. This person must understand how IT supports distribution and warehouse operations — not just office workflows — and be able to collaborate closely with operations, supply chain, and executive teams.

This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely strategic or high-level position. The right candidate will have experience improving legacy systems, managing WMS platforms, enhancing operational visibility through data, and modernizing infrastructure for scalability and uptime.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all IT operations, systems, and infrastructure across office, warehouse, and production environments
• Manage and improve WMS, and proprietary supply chain systems
• Oversee MS Server/SQL, Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, and scripting environments
• Direct infrastructure operations: VMware, Active Directory, LAN/WAN, cybersecurity, networking
• Assess and upgrade legacy systems to meet evolving business needs
• Support systems used by production, warehouse, and supply chain teams
• Improve data quality, system integration, and reporting visibility across departments
• Partner with leadership to align IT with business, supply chain, and operational goals
• Manage internal IT staff and third-party vendors; develop team capabilities and documentation
• Support daily ticketing, troubleshooting, onboarding, and cross-departmental technology needs
• Lead budgeting, contract management, and vendor relationships for IT systems
• Champion innovation and process automation initiatives company-wide

Required Qualifications

• Must be local to the Chicagoland area and available to work onsite 5 days/week in Crestwood
• Minimum 5 years of IT leadership experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse setting
• Strong knowledge of supply chain systems, WMS platforms, and related workflows
• Hands-on experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure, including VMware, AD, SQL Server, and Access
• Proficiency with data transformation, integration, and automation tools
• Comfortable supporting both strategic initiatives and tactical IT operations
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with non-technical stakeholders
• Experience managing internal teams and IT vendors; budget and contract oversight
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Experience

• Background in aftermarket parts, logistics, or third-party supply chain solutions
• Certifications in project management or enterprise systems (e.g., PMP, CompTIA, CISSP)
• Track record of leading digital transformation or system modernization initiatives
• Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
