Scion Staffinghas been engaged to conduct an immediate search for aDirector of Individual Givingon behalf of our client, an impactful nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering equity by providing access to arts, education, health, and economic opportunities inWashington D.C..Job Summary:This full-time role is responsible for cultivating and securing individual and major gifts to support the organizations mission and strategic goals. The Director will lead donor engagement strategies, manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, and oversee key fundraising events and campaigns. This position reports to the Executive Vice President and is based in a collaborative, mission-driven office environment.Position Responsibilities:

• Maintain a dynamic portfolio of 100-150 high-net-worth individuals and secure major and annual gifts.
• Increase individual giving by cultivating individual donors.
• Develop a strategy for all major gift prospects, ensuring they are regularly evaluated to determine their stage in the donor lifecycle, from qualification through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Manage fundraising for events. Determine point of contact for each prospect and bring in executive leadership and/or Development staff for solicitation where appropriate.
• Secure individual major gifts at the six and seven-figure level to raise a minimum of $1,000,000 annually.
• Manage Development Coordinator.
• Draft major gift proposals.
• Conduct donor research to qualify prospects for the portfolio.
• Track moves management through the donor database, including entering contact reports and new donor records.
• Work with the development department to align efforts and individual as well as departmental goals.
• Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.
• Track and report progress quarterly using specific metrics for major gifts and individual giving.
• Collaborate regularly with the development team to strategize about the status of stewardship, prospecting, proposals, and appeals; evaluate areas needing focus and growth.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of direct fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector with corporate, foundation, and government supporters preferred.
• Demonstrable record of cultivating and securing five- and six-figure gifts.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with donor databases and standard office software; ability to learn new technology platforms as needed.
• Creative, strategic thinker with intellectual curiosity and a willingness to try new approaches.
