About Roc Solid Foundation

Roc Solid Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, partnered with over 180 children's hospitals, that builds hope for children and their families fighting pediatric cancer by providing programs that allow them to do what kids do best – play. We are best known for surprising kids fighting cancer with brand new playsets in their backyards and providing Roc Solid Ready Bags to families when their child is diagnosed.

Position Overview

The Director of Hospital & Family Services is a newly created leadership position designed to drive strategic growth and deepen impact for families fighting pediatric cancer. This role combines hospital relationship management, family program operations, and long-term engagement strategies to support Roc Solid Foundation's mission of building hope through play.

Key Responsibilities

Hospital Partnerships & Growth

  • Develop and maintain relationships with children's hospitals nationwide
  • Drive hospital partner growth and retention strategies
  • Ensure consistent Ready Bag distribution through hospital networks
  • Identify new hospital partnership opportunities
  • Serve as primary liaison for hospital coordinators and staff

Family Application Processing & Data Management

  • Oversee family application processing for playset builds
  • Implement automated systems to streamline application workflows
  • Maintain real-time data dashboards for development team utilization
  • Ensure efficient processing with minimal staff overhead
  • Develop quality assurance protocols for family eligibility

Family Engagement & Counseling Services

  • Design and implement comprehensive family engagement programs
  • Develop counseling support services addressing cancer's ripple effects
  • Create strategies to maintain family connections post-service delivery
  • Build alumni-style engagement programs for sustained family involvement

Development & Stewardship

  • Create & oversee systematic follow-up programs for playset recipients
  • Develop process for collect and manage family testimonials, photos, and impact stories
  • Create & implement 6-month post-program follow-up plan with families

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Greet and engage walk-in guests, donors, sponsors, and volunteers with professionalism.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports, billing, and documentation.
  • Participate in staff meetings to evaluate programs and partnerships and assist in implementing quarterly and annual goals.
  • Represent Roc Solid Foundation professionally in interactions with external vendors and partners.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, social work, business, or Hospital Administration
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare partnerships, or family services
  • Strong database management and CRM experience
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
  • Experience with program evaluation and data analysis
  • Ability to work with families during emotionally challenging times
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Experience working with pediatric healthcare organizations
  • Background in family counseling or social services
  • Familiarity with automated systems and process optimization
  • Experience with alumni/donor engagement programs

Working Environment

  • Full-time Salary position based in Chesapeake, VA area
