Role OverviewWe are seeking a Volunteer Deputy Director of Grants to support MAP's fundraising and grant development strategy. This role will work closely with the Director of Development and Grants to research opportunities, draft proposals, and manage reporting requirements. The Deputy Director will play a vital role in building MAP's funding pipeline, ensuring sustainability for programs that serve students and families experiencing housing instability.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
- Draft and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications in collaboration with leadership
- Assist in preparing budgets, data, and narratives required for submissions
- Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and grant calendars to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather impact data and success stories
- Support stewardship of funder relationships through timely communication and reporting
- Contribute to fundraising campaigns and development initiatives as needed
Requirements
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills
- Experience in grant writing, nonprofit development, or fundraising (volunteer or professional)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Passion for education equity and supporting underserved youth
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with grant databases, research tools, or CRM systems
- Knowledge of nonprofit finance and reporting structures
- Experience working with NYC-based or education-focused nonprofits
- Background in public policy, education, or youth development
