Position Summary

Stormont Vail Events Center is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Director of Finance for either on-site or remote opportunities.

The Director of Finance will plan and direct all financial, accounting, purchasing, and internal control functions for the venue, supervising the Finance Department and Box Office staff. Responsibilities include overseeing hiring, work planning, performance reviews, and compliance with policies and laws. The role can be on-site or remote.

This position offers an annual salary of $75,000-$95,000 and bonus eligibility.

About Stormont Vail Events Center

The venue is Northeast Kansas's premier entertainment, exhibition, and convention center, owned by Shawnee County and managed by Oak View Group. Facilities include a 10,000-seat arena, exhibit hall, livestock facilities, and community buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial management, budgeting, and purchasing strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts and manage risk and insurance coordination.
  • Review contracts, event settlements, and financial transactions.
  • Oversee box office, food & beverage accounting, and payroll functions.
  • Prepare financial statements, budgets, and reports; oversee audits and financial analysis.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5-7 years of financial management experience, supervisory level preferred.
  • Knowledge of general and cost accounting, excellent math skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Experience with ADP and Sage preferred; CPA or MBA a plus.
