Director of Engineering – Manufacturing Automation & Productivity
We are seeking a strategic Director of Engineering to lead automation and productivity improvements in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This role involves overseeing the Maintenance Team and fostering innovation through AI applications.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in heavy industry manufacturing
- Strong background in manufacturing automation, process engineering, or productivity improvement
- Knowledge of electronics systems such as PLCs, controllers, and industrial automation technologies
- Practical understanding of AI applications in manufacturing and a desire to innovate
- Experience managing or overseeing a Maintenance team
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into action
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering; advanced degrees preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute engineering strategies to enhance automation and efficiency
- Identify and implement emerging technologies, including AI, to optimize production
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and IT for smart manufacturing initiatives
- Support and oversee the Maintenance team, emphasizing safety and continuous improvement
- Evaluate and deploy automation tools and systems
- Monitor KPIs and drive data-driven improvements
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
