Director of Engineering – Manufacturing Automation & Productivity

We are seeking a strategic Director of Engineering to lead automation and productivity improvements in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This role involves overseeing the Maintenance Team and fostering innovation through AI applications.

Key Qualifications:

• Proven leadership experience in heavy industry manufacturing
• Strong background in manufacturing automation, process engineering, or productivity improvement
• Knowledge of electronics systems such as PLCs, controllers, and industrial automation technologies
• Practical understanding of AI applications in manufacturing and a desire to innovate
• Experience managing or overseeing a Maintenance team
• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into action
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering; advanced degrees preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute engineering strategies to enhance automation and efficiency
• Identify and implement emerging technologies, including AI, to optimize production
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and IT for smart manufacturing initiatives
• Support and oversee the Maintenance team, emphasizing safety and continuous improvement
• Evaluate and deploy automation tools and systems
• Monitor KPIs and drive data-driven improvements
• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
