Overview

The Ameritania Hotel in Times Square is actively seeking to hire a Director of Engineering to join its leadership team. The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of all hotel facilities, equipment, and maintenance functions. This role ensures that all aspects of the hotel property are functioning optimally, providing a safe and comfortable environment for guests while managing a team of maintenance personnel, implement preventative maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead the engineering team in daily operations, ensuring high standards of maintenance and repair
  • Manage the hotel's facilities management system, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance
  • Utilize maintenance management system to track work orders, schedules, and inventory
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Oversee the operation and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers and other automated systems
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or projects as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including schematics for electrical systems and mechanical equipment
  • Provide leadership in project management for renovations or upgrades to hotel facilities
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with established safety protocols, particularly concerning high voltage and low voltage systems
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of proven experience in hotel engineering
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in industrial maintenance
  • Proficient in managing HVAC systems and other essential hotel infrastructure
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, including high voltage and low voltage applications
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of supervising maintenance teams effectively
  • Strong project management skills to oversee renovations or upgrades efficiently
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and best practices within hotel operations
