What Youll Do

Were looking for a Director of Engineering who is both a strategic thinker and hands-on technical leader. Youll guide the development ofVectorSpark, our flagship AI-enabled platform, while mentoring a high-performing, distributed team. Youll work closely with product and design leads, set technical direction, and establish delivery metrics and best practices that ensure scalable, secure, and user-friendly software solutions.

Note:Problem Solutions operates on an East Coast U.S. work schedule. Candidates must be available during these hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow cross-functional engineering teams delivering high-quality, AI-enabled products
  • Set and execute technical vision for VectorSpark in alignment with business goals
  • Own sprint execution, backlog grooming, and agile delivery metrics
  • Design and guide production-ready architecture, integrating LLMs and vector databases
  • Champion CI/CD, observability, and standardized engineering practices
  • Review SOWs and contracts for clarity, feasibility, resourcing, and delivery risk
  • Align engineering priorities with team bandwidth and business needs
  • Engage in pre-sales and client solutioning conversations to shape technically sound, value-driven approaches
  • Collaborate with product teams to ensure the roadmap delivers meaningful customer outcomes
  • Maintain data privacy, security, and ethical AI standards
  • Foster a high-trust, inclusive, psychologically safe team environment
  • Represent engineering in client engagements and cross-functional leadership meeting

What You Bring

  • 810+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading high-performing, distributed teams
  • Bachelors degree (required) or Masters degree () in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A track record of owning full product development cyclesfrom vision to deployment, iteration, and scale
  • Deep technical fluency across cloud- architecture (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD, and scalable backend systems
  • Working knowledge of LLMs, vector databases, and integrating AI into enterprise workflows
  • Strong understanding of DevOps best practices, system observability, and secure software development
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and data science to translate vision into execution
  • Familiarity with modern SaaS platforms, APIs, integrations, and multi-tenant architecture
  • Exceptional communication skillsyou can explain technical decisions clearly to execs, product leaders, and engineers alike
  • Prior experience managing internal teams and external partners (vendors, contractors, nearshore/offshore)
  • Comfort navigating compliance, data privacy, and ethical AI practices in product development

Compensation Expected Salary Range: $160,000 to $190,000 per year

Final compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Performance-based bonuses and a full benefits package are also offered.
