Responsibilities

Infiltrator Water Technologies seeks an experienced Director of Engineering. The ideal candidate is a self-driven, motivated engineering leader with a strong technical background and proven success in product development, both individually and as a team manager. This role will lead the engineering team in developing new product solutions for expanding market segments.

  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities including design, prototyping, testing, and R&D of existing and new product lines.
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance.
  • Manage strategic partnerships with external organizations to foster innovation.
  • Review projects for technical accuracy, mentor engineering staff, and approve technical documentation.
  • Engage directly in prototype development.
  • Coordinate testing activities with the test lab, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
  • Serve as technical program manager for key projects.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and business units to support development initiatives and technical projects.
  • Support capital budgeting and cost estimation for financial planning.
  • Manage departmental budget.
  • Stay informed on new trends, technologies, and materials to incorporate into company objectives.
  • Contribute to strategic engineering and NPD goals.
  • Ensure compliance with the NPD process.
  • Provide focus and clarity to technology development projects.
  • Train and develop engineering staff.
  • Establish workflows and processes for the engineering department aligned with company goals.
  • Set performance standards and departmental policies.
  • Coordinate resource allocation for engineering, sample shop, and test lab to meet objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • MBA, management degree, or equivalent business experience preferred.
  • 10+ years in engineering and product development, with project management experience a plus.
  • Proven track record in product development from concept to market, including IP creation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and design criteria.
  • Knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and thermoforming.
  • Experience working with various polymers.
  • Industry-specific product experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software and efficient parametric design.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis and Moldflow.
  • Knowledge of NPD process methodology.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing engineering teams.
