What This Role Will Be DoingThe Director of Diamond Kote Siding System leads the manufacturing processes, of our Diamond Kote Siding System production. Responsible for all manufacturing aspects of our operations in Schofield, WI, Rapid City, SD, and Stuart, IA., this role coordinates all resources and processes required to produce our Diamond Kote Siding System. Innovation is a key driver of Wausau Supply's success. The Director of Diamond Kote Siding System leads across the organization to develop, design, and manufacture transformational premium building products for our customers of the highest quality and best value. This business leader will own the manufacturing P&L and drive continuous improvement that ensures production aligns with customer requirements and sales forecasts. A strong foundation in manufacturing systems and processes, supply chain management, quality controls, safety, and project management are required to bring all phases of production into alignment with company goals.Responsibilities Include (not Limited To)
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and implement strategic manufacturing plans that meet Wausau Supply Company business goals.
    • Implement market leading innovations that improve quality, reduce cost and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Safety:
    • Create an employee lead culture of safety by promoting a safe and efficient work environment
    • Lead and audit safety performance, track safety KPIs and implement improvements
  • Daily Operations:
    • Oversee manufacturing operations including production, quality, staffing, planning, and quality control
    • Ensure operational capacity aligns to demand requirements and sales forecasts
    • Establish a culture of teamwork and excellence within the organization, Develop and mentor direct reports
  • Process Improvement:
    • Implement lean manufacturing methods to optimize productivity and reduce costs.
    • Develop standardized operating and quality processes
  • Cross Department Collaboration:
    • Work with other departments such as sales, marketing, engineering, supply chain, distribution, and finance to coordinate manufacturing requirements, product innovation needs, and capabilities.
    • Represent the manufacturing function in the Sales and Integrated Operational Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with industry and standards and regulations.
  • Budget Management:
    • Develop annual budget for manufacturing operations
    • Perform monthly budget reviews and forward planning sessions
    • Develop capital expenditure requirements and projections to ensure related projects are implemented on time and on budget
  • Performance Reporting:
    • Establish metrical goals and reporting for quality, safety and operational performance.
    • Use data driven analysis to improve operational performance
A WSC Director of DKSS will possess and/or demonstrate the ability to:
  • Implement and execute LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Design and track key performance indicators and reporting tools that drive operational improvements
  • Develop budgets, analyze P&Ls and perform financial gap analysis
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, across the enterprise
  • Improve production, reduce costs, and successfully drive organizational change
  • Strong problem-solving skills and use of statistical tools
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet expected goals on time
  • Effective interpersonal and managerial skills to promote a healthy work environment and positive employee culture
  • Independent decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Enthusiasm and a positive approach to problem-solving.
Education / Experience
  • BS degree in Business Management, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Technology, or closely-related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in manufacturing (building materials a strong plus)
  • Familiarity with ERP and integrated manufacturing and planning tools
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belts experience implementing Lean and Six Sigma preferred, not required.
  • Project management leadership experience
Working Demands / Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel up to 30%
