Title: Director of Destination Services
Organization Summary: Visit York County (VYC) is the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) responsible for developing an authentic, unified identity for York County, SC. Visit York County's mission is to raise the profile and boost the economy of York County, SC through tourism sales and marketing while also contributing to the quality of life for residents.
Position Summary: The Director of Destination Services is responsible for elevating and servicing the visitor experience in York County, SC. This role strengthens industry partnerships and creates visitor engagement opportunities to drive business across the community. This position works with tourism generating events to deliver services and planning support resulting in high quality visitor experiences.
Compensation & Benefits:
· Projected hiring range: $60,000 - $70,000 depending on qualifications and negotiable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Oversee daily operations of the York County Visitor Center, which includes maintaining an inventory of up-to-date brochures, maps, and other tourism-related resources.
· Oversee distribution of printed literature and promotional items (mailed packets, shipped boxes, and replenished racks) to ensure timely fulfillments of requests.
· Manage the VYC Internship Program through recruitment, training, and supervision of students relating to visitor services responsibilities.
· Create and manage an annual budget for visitor services initiatives through internal procedures.
· Research new opportunities and trends to increase visitation and guest experience at the Visitor Center.
· Develop and implement visitor experience strategies and promotional assets (in collaboration with the marketing team) for strategic communication with event and meeting planners, visitors, and businesses.
· Utilize creative thinking to develop initiatives designed to promote the destination and generate website traffic, leading to restaurants, attractions, and hotel visitation. This includes event and facility advertising and presence at festivals, tournaments, and other VYC partnered events.
· Generate and maintain destination and visitor information on third-party event websites.
· Supply mobile location generated analytics to tourism stakeholders, analyze data-driven insights to measure goals and improve event marketing strategies, and document event promotions for grant reimbursements.
· Coordinate VYC operated events such as Taste of Tourism and the York County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet.
· Be actively involved within the community through participation on local boards and committees.
· Other duties as determined by the CEO.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree and three (3) year minimum work experience in hospitality, tourism, or marketing fields
· Knowledge of travel and tourism industry preferred; hotel, agency and/or DMO/CVB experience a plus
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital software
· Effective communication and customer service skills
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and execute multiple priorities effectively
· Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and transport equipment and materials for use in programs
· Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
