Overview

The award-winning Fortune Brand Studio (FBS) is seeking a Director, Design with extensive expertise in digital design and branded content. This role helps shape the studio's creative output, elevate the Fortune brand, and inspire the design team to deliver high-quality, award-winning work for global advertising partners and internal stakeholders. Reporting to the Executive Director of Design, this key team leader will shape and advance the studio's creative vision and collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Editorial, and Video production teams as well as clients to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines while maintaining quality. Drawing on vast expertise in digital design, branded content, and video, the Director, Design will deliver work that sets the standard for excellence and inspires the team to elevate the quality of every project.

We are looking for a nimble, resourceful, client-facing creative leader with a strong sense of ownership and independent thinking who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This is a temporary, month-to-month role, starting immediately.

Responsibilities
  • Execute high-level creative work across digital design, branded content, and video
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive visual language across all touchpoints
  • Create compelling, high-quality design work across platforms
  • Manage the design team and stakeholders to ensure visual output meets studio standards and objectives
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to inform and elevate design work
  • Inspire the team to deliver more award-winning campaigns and content
  • Identify opportunities to tell diverse stories from diverse perspectives
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in design leadership in branded content at a publisher content studio, brand, or agency
  • Expertise in digital storytelling across mediums including digital, social, print, and video
  • Exceptional design thinking, visual storytelling, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Deep knowledge of branded content campaigns and the ability to translate strategy and concepts into outstanding design work
  • Proven track record of creating award-winning work
  • Extensive knowledge of video and design deliverables in the media, publishing, and advertising landscape
  • Experience designing visual representations of user journeys (storyboarding, wireframes, prototypes)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment and drive creative projects across all stages
  • Ability to independently meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects
Compensation

Total Compensation Ranges: $150,000–$175,000

Location

NYC-based with 5 days per week in the office.
