Looking to make a difference delivering emerging technology education that helps enable the next generation? The Coding School (TCS) is seeking a Director of Curriculum who will help make this happen! TCS is a global leader in emerging tech education, including Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and is focused on training the future diverse workforce by providing educational opportunities, training, mentorship, and community programming for K-12 students and educators, university students, and others. Offerings range from small sized programs, such as K-12 classroom workshops, to large-scale courses for 1,000+ participants.

The Director of Curriculum reports to the CEO and is a key leadership role for The Coding School (TCS), responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of Computer Science (CS) educational curricula offered by The Coding School. The Curriculum Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience for students and ensuring alignment with CS educational standards and organizational goals. You will oversee the creation of technical learning materials, resources, lesson plans, alignment to technical standards and much more for high school students, educators, and other audiences, ensuring engaging experiences for students. The successful candidate MUST have hands-on experience developing CS curricula and overseeing CS curriculum developers. Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Hire and oversee a team of technical curriculum developers and instructional designers.
  • Oversee development of all CS academic and curriculum materials, including lesson plans, slides, textbooks, digital tools and content, etc.
  • Mentor and train curriculum team members in best practices for curriculum development.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on the strategic plans for curriculum team product development including new course creation.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality learner experience.
  • Lead the design and development of comprehensive, standards-aligned CS curricula for all technical programs. Lead update of STEM standards.
  • Ensure curriculum reflects best practices, pedagogical advancements, and addresses diverse learning needs.
  • Track quality of all curriculum by developing metrics and assessments.
  • Analyze assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and represent TCS in the marketplace.
  • Ensure compliance with educational regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Oversee educational and evaluative assessment/research.
  • Collaborate with school leadership, department heads, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between curriculum goals and overall educational objectives.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and represent TCS in the external marketplace.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the curriculum budget.
  • Uphold company values and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Role is remote, with potential travel, as well as evening and weekend work.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Computer Science or a related field or relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Computer Science curriculum development and educational leadership in K12 education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a people management role overseeing CS curriculum development. Willingness and interest in both managing a team, as well as doing hands-on development.
  • Strong knowledge of educational standards, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
  • Proficiency in a computer programming language, preferably Python.
  • Demonstrated success in leading curriculum development initiatives, including managing curricula and curriculum developers.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into the curriculum.
  • A team player, very communicative and collaborative.
  • Creative and brings positive energy to the team.
  • Experience with utilizing learning management systems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, as needed.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in computer science or a STEM-adjacent field.
  • K12 teaching experience.
  • Product management experience, overseeing the complete development lifecycle of educational products.
