Director of Contracts

Location: Lexington Park, MD (onsite)

Clearance Requirement: U.S. Citizenship Required; eligible for Secret clearance

We are seeking an experienced Director of Contracts to lead the management and oversight of all prime contracts and subcontracts. This role is critical in ensuring full compliance with FAR/DFARS, driving strategic contract initiatives, and mentoring a high-performing team. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in federal contracting, financial oversight, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Federal government contracting (Defense)
  • 5+ years in a leadership role strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Contract Management, or a related field (Master's preferred) - years' experience can substitute for degree
  • Deep knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS regulations
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to contract sensitivity; eligibility for a clearance

Responsibilities

Contract Management & Oversight

  • Lead development, negotiation, and execution of prime contracts and subcontracts, ensuring full compliance with FAR/DFARS.
  • Manage the administration of multiple prime contracts and 45+ subcontracts across a diverse customer base.
  • Ensure timely, accurate invoicing to government clients and prime contractors.
  • Support smooth transitions for new contract awards.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and develop a team of Contracts Managers and Project Control Analysts.
  • Build a culture of accountability, growth, and performance.
  • Design and deliver training to keep the team current on regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Represent the contracts function on the company's leadership team, working cross-functionally to support broader business goals.

Strategic & Operational Planning

  • Partner with senior leadership to align contract strategies with company objectives and profitability targets.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline contract operations.

Financial Oversight

  • Guide PCAs in accurate cost allocation, billing, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee incurred cost submissions and support audits by DCAA and other agencies.
  • Advise on pricing strategies, cost structures, and regulatory compliance (FAR, DFARS, CAS).

Customer & Partner Relations

  • Act as the lead negotiator and liaison for government and prime contract discussions.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with government stakeholders and subcontractors.
