Position Summary

The Director of Construction leads all construction operations from pre-construction planning to final handover, ensuring projects meet uncompromising standards for craftsmanship, quality, and client satisfaction. This leadership role combines strategic vision with hands-on operational oversight, driving efficiency, profitability, and growth while preserving the company's reputation as one of Northern Michigan's most respected luxury custom home builders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Oversee resource planning, workforce development, and capacity forecasting.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics to drive efficiency.
  • Direct all construction phases, managing schedules, budgets, quality, and compliance.
  • Conduct site visits for quality control and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with ownership on financial planning, contract negotiation, and profitability.
  • Lead and mentor project managers, site supervisors, and field staff, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Implement training programs to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact during builds, maintaining strong trade partner and client relationships.
  • Identify process improvements, resolve operational challenges, and ensure exceptional client experiences.
  • Provide regular reporting on project progress, financials, and quality metrics.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of residential construction management experience
  • Proven success managing luxury/custom home projects.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with data-driven decision-making.
  • Expertise in construction methods, codes, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

150,000-175,000 Salary
