Job Description of the Director of Career & Technical EducationElizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools Reports to: Assistant Superintendent Supervises: May coordinate and direct the activities of CTE teachers supporting principals Purpose: To provide leadership for development and implementation of career and technical education programs Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the local planning for Career and Technical Education (CTE) in relation to the total school curriculum and maintain the CTE Planning and Performance Management System
- Monitor state and federal CTE compliance
- Develop and oversee CTE budgets including processing purchase orders for CTE equipment and supplies
- Plan, develop, direct, monitor, and maintain the CTE budges in accordance with established policies
- Provide leadership for effective delivery of appropriate CTE programs in grades 6-12
- Provide recommendations for CTE courses to be initiated, expanded, or eliminated
- Prepare and oversee all CTE testing in secondary schools
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to prepare reports for local, state, and federal agencies
- Provide leadership for data collection and dissemination
- Provide appropriate opportunities for staff development for CTE teachers and coordinators
- Coordinate hiring activities for CTE staffing; working with principals
- Identify qualifications needed by CTE staff and verify eligibility for licensure
- Provide leadership for development and implementation of career academies
- Coordinate the Business Advisory Council and Volunteer Recognitions
- Serve as liaison with College of the Albemarle to develop and implement articulated curriculum for high school students.
- Coordinate services provided to students through Workforce Investment Act funding
- Provide robust internship opportunities for students
- Develop and implement grant funding as appropriate
- Serve on committees as directed by superintendent/assistant superintendent
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and skills in administration of CTE curriculum
- Knowledge and skills in verbal and written communication
- Knowledge and skills in leadership
- Knowledge and skills in application of technology
Training and Experience:
- Licensure and experience as CTE Director/Curriculum Specialist - preferred
- Licensure and teaching experience in CTE program area or ability to become licensed
