Director of Business Development - Manufacturing

We are seeking a visionary Director of Business Development to spearhead growth in our dynamic manufacturing company located in Danville, VA. This role is perfect for someone with a robust background in business development, particularly within IT, federal contracts, and higher education administration. The successful candidate will craft and implement advanced strategies to enhance market presence, foster robust relationships with key stakeholders, and lead the company through an era of significant expansion.

Salary: $120,000 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing and sales strategies that cater specifically to manufacturing solutions required by the larger industry.
  • Establish and nurture enduring relationships with principal industry players including government entities, prime contractors, suppliers, and industry associations.
  • Formulate and execute strategic and tactical plans to attract new customers, explore new platforms, and manage various projects and programs.
  • Consistently identify opportunities and maintain a healthy pipeline of potential business prospects.
  • Implement strategic plans rigorously, ensuring tracking and measurements of activities to gauge success and areas for improvement.
  • Respond to RFPs promptly, ensuring detailed and competitive proposals.
  • Manage contracting processes by monitoring proposal progress and handling contract reviews diligently.
  • Ensure absolute compliance with business and governmental regulations and standards.
  • Promote and advocate for the company's capabilities through various platforms and speaking engagements.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, supported by practical real-life experience relevant to the industry.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering or an MBA is highly desirable.
  • Over 10 years of experience in account or program management within relevant industries.
  • Must have significant defense experience with a thorough understanding of defense acquisition processes, government contracting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical background specifically in the manufacturing sector with substantial hands-on experience.
  • Proficient in using CRM systems and various market research tools to optimize business development strategies.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident due to restrictions from contracts with the United States Government.
