Their asset-based divisions ensure that your goods are delivered safely and on time through their modern fleet. Our client's asset-based 3PL service provider and brokerage divisionwill provide transportation and logistics services across North America through their network of experienced carrier partners.

Director of Business Development

As a Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for developing plans and strategies to prospect for new clients by networking, calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest. You will identify prospective opportunities, develop customer relationships, and implement plans of action to build a pipeline of new business and expand existing accounts.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify companies facing challenges with their supply chain transportation network and present the company's services as solutions.
  • Prospect for companies that ship freight within North America.
  • Research companies and contacts to prepare for initial calls.
  • Cold call and email prospects to initiate conversations.
  • Identify business opportunities within new and existing customers.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Monitor trends in customer purchase behavior and follow up accordingly.
  • Collaborate with company experts to set up discovery calls and meetings.
  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Leverage existing relationships and contacts within the industry.
  • Contact new shippers via cold calling and known contacts.
  • Set up meetings to sell truckload and brokerage services.
  • Determine best coverage opportunities based on shippers' needs.
  • Negotiate rates on new business lanes with opportunities for increases based on service levels.
  • Work with operations in the first 90 days to ensure proper management of sold coverage.
  • Serve as the point of contact for escalated issues with shippers.
  • Perform other sales functions as requested.
Experience:
  • 10+ years of proven sales success required.
  • ‘Hunter' mentality—always seeking to grow their book of business.
  • Self-starter, independent worker, incentive-driven.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, capable of handling client challenges with emotional intelligence.
  • Problem solver, collaborative, and solution-oriented.
  • Excellent communicator comfortable engaging with prospects across all levels, from warehouse staff to C-suite executives.

This position offers a competitive base salary.
