Embark on a rewarding and exciting career at DDI as the Director of Behavioral Services by providing thought leadership and overseeing the daily operations of the OPWDD Behavioral Services Department, supporting both our Children s Residential and Adult Service programs. Reporting to the Chief Program and Quality Officer, you will be responsible for the oversight of behavioral health services within our OPWDD programs. Salary Range: $90,000 - $108,000 / year Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect supervision/oversight to administrative staff, including but not limited to Psychology Coordinators, Behavior Intervention Services Manager, (BISM) and other Behavioral Health Services Department staff, as determined. Meet regularly with the department to review clinical caseloads, ensuring the effective implementation of treatment, programming, clinical methods, and best practices within the Department
  • Hire new BIS/BIS Assistant personnel or other clinical positions, as needed and coordinate orientation, training, and mentorship for new personnel. Coordinate assignment of caseloads for new program development or open caseloads due to attrition. Assign BIS/BIS Assistant personnel to cover open caseloads, as needed
  • Oversee and manage departmental budget and position control
  • Evaluate current programming and make data-driven decisions to evaluate opportunities and the need to drive change/pivot for innovation or enhancements within programs / department. Ensure process and quality checks are built within programming and evaluated regularly for effectiveness
  • Lead and foster the provision of crisis intervention services both internally and liaise with external entities, when needed to leverage additional support
  • Track and monitor required Informed Consents, Human Rights Consents, Behavior Plans and all other documentation as mandated and required
  • Chair the Human Rights Committee and facilitate HRC Technical Assistance Committee meetings
  • Develop and implement new OPWDD Behavioral Services Department policies and procedures, as needed. Seek out and keep abreast of new/revised OPWDD regulations and Administrative Memos pertinent to behavior services and implement departmental trainings
  • Conduct periodic, unscheduled reviews of required documentation in day and residential programs
  • Track and monitor staff training and ensure the fidelity of all components of behavior programming/implementation
  • Participate in the screening and admission process for new individuals and oversee the development of behavioral services for new programs. Determine assignments and train personnel involved in screening. Review screening recommendations and provide technical assistance on reports of necessary supports
  • Participate on Internal Committees, as assigned
  • Provide continuing education to OPWDD Behavioral Services Department personnel and other disciplines across the Children s Residential Program and Adult Services
  • Facilitate and mentor single case studies and research projects. Participate in conferences, integrated care committees and other outlets as appropriate to ensure the highest quality of care
  • Coordinate all screening and provider activities for the Family Support Program
  • Demonstrate an effective, adaptive leadership style that promotes innovation, accountability and establishes work priorities
Qualifications:
  • Master s Degree in Psychology or related human service field required; Ph.D. in Psychology preferred
  • Minimum 10 years experience working with persons with Autism and developmental disabilities
  • Significant management experience, including an accessible, direct, transparent, and collaborative working style that motivates and inspires staff and colleagues to work hard and well together, offers a clear sense of direction, and holds self and staff accountable
  • Demonstrated competency in behavioral intervention/applied behavior analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, objectivity and anticipating needs is essential
  • Ability to be efficient, well organized and have excellent communication skills
  • Critical thinking and sound judgment skills are necessary
