The Institutional Advancement team seeks qualified candidates for the Director of Alumni Relations program to build affinity and strengthen engagement, with the ultimate goal of growing fundraising and related institutional support. The Director will organize and promote alumni events that encourage alumni participation and donations to the university while collaborating with advancement staff to create a cohesive alumni involvement experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Alumni Relations and Communications

  • Design and implement new programs to increase alumni and community affinity.
  • Staff liaison to the Alumni Association leadership and Alumni Board; provide organizational support for events and activities and ensure alignment with current university strategies and goals.
  • Collaborate with other campus departments such as the Career Center, Student Life, OSS, and Diversity Equity and Belonging to support common strategic goals.
  • Manage mass communication with alumni, which may take the form of email, newsletters, magazine updates, website, and social media management.
  • Plan, lead, and execute events, including those related to Homecoming, Commencement, and other alumni and community activities.
  • Conduct surveys and research as needed on topics of alumni interests at Indiana Tech
  • Develop and administer alumni affairs budget.

Fundraising

  • Collaborate with Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Development Officers to determine best practices for segmenting alumni by affinity groups.
  • Assist with and develop a plan to become the lead on the Indiana Tech Day of Giving online fundraising effort.

Operations

  • Department liaison to marketing department. Coordinate the IA communications and events calendar in partnership with IA team members.
  • Work strategically with IA team members to ensure that all department events are contributing to the goals of Institutional Advancement. Assist with event planning and execution as designated.
  • Manage student employee programs for the IA department, including budgeting, hiring, training, scheduling, and assigning duties to assist department.
  • Assist with the Presidential Student Ambassador Program.
  • Represent the university at public affairs activities and community relations events.
  • Perform additional duties as requested

Measures of Accomplishment

  • Grow the alumni giving participation rate.
  • Grow alumni and community participation in events and activities.
  • Grow and develop alumni board and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communication, event management or related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Project budget management experience.
  • Possess good skills in organization and written and oral communication.
  • High-energy team player.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Useful to possess knowledge of Jenzabar and Raiser's Edge

Experience

Minimum 5-7 years of professional work experience sufficient to demonstrate competence with alumni relations, fundraising, event planning and nonprofit management. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Some weekend and evening work and local and national travel is expected.
