Position Overview

The Director, Mission Advancement is responsible for building the volunteer infrastructure within the state and incubation regions, developing and implementing state events, securing foundation and/or grant opportunities, and managing local staff, advisory boards, and associated committees.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or at least 4 years' relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of fundraising experience including special events planning and donor cultivation
  • 3-5 years' experience and knowledge of working with volunteers and boards
  • 3-5 years' experience in staff management
  • Excellent persuasive writing and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with database management systems
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask
  • Initiative, drive for results, and leadership abilities
  • Comfort engaging with people with IDD
  • Willingness to travel, use personal cell phone, and work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Access to an automobile with insurance
Key Responsibilities
  • Support local programmatic needs and introduce new chapter and employer partners.
  • Develop and implement statewide fundraising strategies, including foundation, corporate, individual giving, and events.
  • Manage local advisory boards and cultivate volunteer and donor relationships.
  • Research and develop grant opportunities, collaborate with the Grants Manager, and build relationships with funders.
  • Develop and execute a statewide public awareness strategy and enhance community presence through various media and events.
  • Coordinate with marketing professionals and manage content for the state website and database systems.
