Metacomet Construction, an affiliate of Freestone, is a New York City-based and fully licensed general contractor. Its services include full building construction and renovation, owners' representation and property maintenance services. The company generates approximately $10 million in annual revenue and is looking to grow exponentially.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to lead Metacomet Construction LLC, an affiliate of Freestone Property Group. The Director will be responsible for all aspects of the company's operations including managing its P&L, team and clients. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in project management, budgeting, scheduling, and strategic planning, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of construction processes and regulations. Most importantly, this role provides an opportunity to grow a business within an established firm.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads and mentors project managers and teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Sources new business opportunities.
  • Supervises the development of construction scope of work and plans.
  • Manages all phases of construction projects, from estimation to final completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees project budgets, cost control, and procurement processes, including bid leveling, contract negotiations and vendor selection.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates potential risks associated with construction projects.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Analyzes project performance metrics, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Analyzes company performance metrics to ensure growth and profitability.
  • Provides regular updates and reports to senior management on project progress, financial status, and key performance indicators.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to construction policies and procedures.
  • Abides by all laws and regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in construction management software and relevant industry knowledge.
  • Expertise in construction methods, processes, best practices, and safety regulations.
  • Expertise in New York City building code and permitting.
  • Deep understanding of construction accounting.
  • Deep understanding of company financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore) is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in construction management, including project management roles, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  • Experience in a leadership role in the construction industry.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in construction project management or a related role.
