At Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, we don't just provide world-class heart and vascular care — we innovate it. As South Florida's largest and most comprehensive cardiovascular program, our legacy of excellence dates back to 1987, when internationally renowned interventional radiologist Dr. Barry T. Katzen founded the Institute with a bold vision: to treat the heart and blood vessels as one integrated system. That groundbreaking approach helped us gain a worldwide reputation that continues to grow today.
We bring together the brightest minds in cardiac surgery, interventional radiology, vascular surgery, and cardiology — all working collaboratively to deliver life-changing, minimally invasive care. From aneurysms and blocked arteries to structural heart conditions, our teams develop and deploy advanced solutions that reduce hospital stays and improve outcomes.
Our patients — and our team — benefit from a multilingual, multidisciplinary, and mission-driven environment that fosters innovation and continuous learning. Many of our physicians trained at the most prestigious institutions in the country and have helped shape the field through pioneering research and new techniques.
At the helm of our clinical strategy is Dr. Tom C. Nguyen, Chief Medical Executive of the Institute, Barry T. Katzen Endowed Chair, Director of Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery, and professor of surgery at Florida International University Herbert W. College of Medicine. Dr. Nguyen is an internationally recognized thought leader in cardiac surgery who believes that small incisions make a big difference — and he has dedicated his career to advancing minimally invasive approaches that improve quality of life for patients around the world.
He oversees the full spectrum of cardiovascular services — including cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, cardiology, and interventional radiology — across Baptist Health's 12-hospital network. His leadership is shaping the next generation of cardiac innovation and surgical talent, and he's deeply committed to mentorship, academic excellence, and expanding access to the most advanced care available.
From our early adoption of image-guided vascular technology with Philips, to our role as a hub for breakthrough research and complex procedures, Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute is setting new standards for what's possible in cardiovascular care.
If you're driven by purpose and want to work alongside some of the most respected leaders in the field, there's no better place to grow your career. Join us in shaping the future of heart health — in South Florida and far beyond.
