The Director, Inventory Control & Master Data Governance will report to the Executive Director of Supply Chain. You will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing inventory management processes within the organization. As well as responsibility for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust master data governance strategies and frameworks. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to establish policies, standards, and processes for data management, while also overseeing the execution of data governance initiatives. While also partnering with the Production and Supply Planning Teams, Demand Planning and Operations Teams to develop and implement inventory strategies to optimize stock levels and meet customer demand. Utilize historical data, market trends, and demand forecasts to plan inventory requirements.
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive master data governance strategy aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
    • Develop and implement inventory strategies to optimize stock levels and meet customer demand. Utilize historical data, market trends, and demand forecasts to plan inventory requirements.
    • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to ensure the effective implementation and continuous improvement of data governance programs.
    • Ensure efficient utilization of inventory by implementing best practices for inventory control, including ABC analysis, safety stock management, and inventory turnover optimization.
    • Establish and maintain processes to ensure the accuracy of inventory records. Implement cycle counting programs, perform regular audits, and address discrepancies promptly to minimize inventory variances.
  • Policy and Process Development:
    • Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to govern the creation, maintenance, and usage of master data.
    • Define data quality standards and metrics, and establish processes for monitoring and enforcing compliance.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the inventory control function. Streamline procedures, implement inventory management systems, and leverage technology to enhance efficiency.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand data requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Partner with IT, data management, and business teams to integrate data governance practices into systems and workflows.
    • Work closely with other departments such as procurement, logistics, sales, and finance to align inventory control efforts with overall business objectives.
    • Partner with L'Occitane and the other family of brands in order to align cross-company on Master Data requirements and overarching process.
  • Master Data Management:
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of master data models, taxonomies, and hierarchies to ensure consistency and accuracy.
    • Drive initiatives to improve data quality, completeness, and reliability, including data cleansing, standardization, and enrichment.
  • Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Identify potential risks related to data governance and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to inventory management, including FIFO (First In, First Out) and LIFO (Last In, First Out) inventory methods. Mitigate risks associated with inventory obsolescence, shrinkage, and theft.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of inventory control initiatives. Generate regular reports and dashboards to track inventory metrics, identify trends, and communicate insights to senior management.

  • Team Leadership:
    • Provide leadership and direction to the Inventory Control & Master Data Teams. Hire, train, and develop staff to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain or related fields
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in Inventory Control & Master Data specifically related to Contract Manufacturing
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Attention to detail - must analyze many pieces of data and transaction history in order to understand, digest and assess inventory implications.
  • Developed understanding of Master Data Governance and its associated needs as it relates to Contract Manufacturing.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to operate effectively and efficiently on an independent level.
  • A strong business sense and experience operating in small to medium-sized business environment.
  • Net Suite experience is preferred.
  • Beauty Industry experience is preferred.
