Title: Director - Health and Safety Location: Gouverneur, NY Job Type: FTE/Permanent Job Description: We are currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Mine Health & Safety Director at an underground Zinc operation. Responsibilities:
- Lead development of a strong safety culture.
- Analyze indicators of the company's health and safety performance.
- Lead audits of processes and facilities within underground and surface areas to ensure compliance with company safety procedures as well as local, state, and federal requirements.
- Advise management on performance improvements and identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Assist team members in developing plans, policies, or procedures necessary for performance improvements.
- Conduct risk management by performing hazard evaluations, risk assessments, and initiating corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, determine risk levels, and evaluate root causes.
- Act as the point of contact for mine safety inspections and manage required documentation.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and policies to support a safe work environment.
- Communicate health and safety information and address questions or concerns from employees and management.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the health and safety field, specifically in underground mining.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Experience in hazard recognition and control training systems.
- Mine rescue experience.
- MSHA Blue Card IU/IS/MM unlimited certification required.
