Director, Head of Brand DesignOverviewBNY, a leading global financial services company, is seeking a Director, Head of Brand Design to join our Marketing & Communications team in New York City. The role focuses on evolving our design vision, leading creative strategy, and mentoring a talented design team to deliver world‑class brand experiences across campaigns, digital experiences, environmental spaces, and thought leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Elevate the design vision and principles for BNY, shaping comprehensive strategies that align with business objectives and elevate our brand across campaigns, events, digital experiences, environmental spaces, and brand activations.
  • Drive exceptional design craft, attention to detail, and communication intent across all aspects of design, including conceptual thinking, motion design, color theory, and typography.
  • Own flagship projects end‑to‑end while guiding the broader team, demonstrating hands‑on design execution and strategic direction.
  • Mentor and manage a team of talented designers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creative growth, innovation, and a high standard of excellence.
  • Develop and implement scalable design systems that maintain brand integrity while allowing flexibility across a variety of platforms and channels.
  • Translate complex financial concepts and data into clear, persuasive, and visually stunning narratives for internal and external audiences.
  • Champion the integration of AI into the design workflow, exploring new ideation techniques, streamlining production processes, and pushing creative boundaries.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of agency or brand‑side experience working with global brands, plus a Bachelor's, Master's, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a multidisciplinary creative team, with proven ability to manage teams, projects, and influence outcomes in highly matrixed organizations.
  • Strong ability to initiate and drive opportunities independently across complex projects with strategic brand implications, operating in a fast‑changing environment.
  • Proven conceptual thinking, generating original ideas that are both strategically sound and creatively inspiring.
  • Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills, capable of captivating audiences through compelling visual and verbal narratives.
