Director, Gen AI/Software Engineering - Hybrid - Jobs via Dice : Job Details

Director of Generative AI Software Engineering – Hybrid in New York, NY. • Location: Manhattan, NYC • Work Schedule: Hybrid - 2-3 days on-site

Salary: $180,000 - $210,000 per year (plus bonus and benefits as listed in the original posting).

As a Director of Generative AI Software Engineering, you will lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of AI-driven solutions within our legal tech SaaS platform. You will manage multiple SCRUM teams and drive the roadmap for generative AI initiatives at the intersection of AI, legal, and SaaS.

• Define and execute the generative AI roadmap in alignment with business and engineering goals
• Lead ideation, prototyping, and scaling of AI-driven solutions including LLMs, Copilots, and autonomous agents
• Inspire engineering teams to push the boundaries of innovation
• Own technology architecture and development for complex, scalable SaaS products
• Oversee daily activities and performance of multiple SCRUM teams
• Monitor engineering and operational metrics to drive delivery excellence
• Estimate engineering efforts, plan for new features, and remediate legacy code
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Architects to deliver secure, cloud-native applications
• Promote transparency and accountability through data-driven processes
• Identify market gaps and align technology delivery to client needs
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with Product, Sales, and Customer Success
• Shape software development strategy, tooling, roadmaps, and best practices
• Drive execution through 90/120/180-day planning with executive leadership

• 15+ years in software engineering
• 5+ years in progressive technical leadership/people management
• Tech stack expertise in C#, Azure, React
• SaaS product experience, preferably in high-scale, customer-facing platforms
• Proven track record leading multiple teams on AI projects (LLMs, agents, prompt engineering)
• Familiar with GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Devon
• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field
