GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director Frames Merchandising is responsible for curating, managing, and merchandising the eyewear frame selection to meet the clinical, style, and budgetary needs of our patients across the US. This role ensures our dispensaries reflect current trends, brand strategy, and align with the practice positioning. It combines inventory management, vendor relations, sales training, and visual merchandising to drive optical sales performance.

Primary Functions

  • Select and maintain an optimal mix of frame brands, styles, and price points based on patient demographics and practice strategy
  • Curate frame collections to support clinical offerings (pediatric, sports, progressive)
  • Monitor trends in fashion, eyewear, and local competitors to keep frame board fresh and relevant
  • Plan and execute frame refresh cycles, trunk shows, or seasonal promotions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with frame and lens vendors
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, discounts, and promotional opportunities
  • Ensure consignment and returns are handled per vendor agreements
  • Partner with opticians and optical staff to train on new frame lines and selling points
  • Track sales by frame brand/style to identify top performers and slow movers
  • Assist in pricing strategy and ensure frames are tagged and displayed correctly
  • Design frame boards and displays in an organized, brand-appropriate, and visually appealing manner.
  • Update signage and display materials to reflect promotions, seasons, or new launches.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or a related field.
  • ABO Certification or optician background is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in optical retail, opticianry, fashion buying, or merchandising preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong aesthetic sense and understanding of eyewear trends.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and Microsoft Excel or equivalent.
  • Excellent negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and make data-informed decisions.
