Director, Finance
Lead the finance function for multiple states or lines of business that supports achieving overall American Water goals. For area of responsibility, this role directs the business planning and reforecasting (landing zone) process, financial and management reporting activities, the design and management of internal controls, financial analysis and modeling, rate case support, business development support, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. This role is a key strategic leader that supports driving growth for the organization. This role functions as a financial business partner, working cross functionally to communicate, align on best practice, foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
- Serve as a key member of the state or LOB executive management team - participating in strategy development and leading the resulting financial plan in order to achieve targets and objectives that support the overall corporate plan.
- Coordination and quality of financial reporting - monthly and annual reporting, business planning, monthly reforecasting, and analysis of financial risk.
- Evaluation of new business proposals - review financial analysis and modeling of proposed growth opportunities to assure financial viability using appropriate investment and risk appraisal techniques.
- Provide financial guidance and serve as Divisional point of contact for all other finance-related activities - rate filings, external audits, internal audits, financing activities, etc.
- Build and manage a strong team of finance professionals, including coaching, succession planning, etc.
- Other special projects and ad hoc assignments

- SAP, Hyperion, Oracle
Experience/Education:
- Degree in Business and/or finance. Masters degree preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting or related field required. MBA preferred.
- 10 years of accounting/financial related experience required.
- 5 years supervisory experience or equivalent required.
Certifications/Licenses:
CPA, CMA or CFA preferred
